One or two slips, short leg catcher, ring field and sweeper on whatever side you'll be focussing on seems to work for me in FC matches. I do have the AI run rate turned down a bit so there aren't constant boundaries.

For short games, I have most outfielders on one side of the field and bowl a line targetting them. For example if a batsman has a weak drive, every ball will be full outside off and eventually be skied to an outfielder or edged.

Thanks for the advice a lot better for me but still get the streaky boundary on the occasion less than I have done before I use default AI run rate will it still work with these fielding positions

Nothing will stop that boundary from being hit when it's a 'scripted' boundary. I put all players on the rope on the off side to see where the AI will hit their boundary for the over and they hit a late cut on a 7th stump line so hard and fine that the fine third man had no chance to take more than a few steps.

Turning the run rate down is the only way I've found that makes those 'scripted' boundaries happen less than once per over in FC games. Would love to hear how other people deal with it.

hmm I too came across this weird fixed 4/ 6 issue so to counter that I have stopped playing it as it is not getting fixed never will be in near future so why waste time on Paid Pre Alpha beta testing?
even after the latest patch, as a Spinner taking a wicket is very very difficult at the skill level of 86+ career Player whose captain of its National side all 3 formats(4 seasons). still he doesn't get in the IPL auction, isn't that the sign of an awful Pre-Alpha game ?

What difficulty are you bowling on? I've been taking a lot more wickets since I turned the bowling difficulty down to medium.
