Advice on improving my Parse/overall gameplay?

Hello, recently I've started tracking my own parse so I can try and improve my own gameplay in higher end content. Of all the runs I've tracked for the First EX trial I'm sitting in the grey parse range (except for one time where I got green) which I'm told is pretty bad. I've been using my skills off cooldown and keeping my damage buff up but no matter how well I think I do I'm still sitting in the same range. I've used to xivanalysis website to check my logs and I've applied to advice that's it's given me but I'm clearly still doing something wrong since it hasn't improved at all.

I'm not sure if it's related to job changes since I used to average green/blue in Shadowbringers when my friends tracked us in the Eden savages but now I'm not doing to well. Any advice on what I could do to improve would be most welcome. Also I mainly play tanks, mostly WAR/PLD and a little GNB.

Thanks.

I haven't interacted with it at since the stat squish. Are we absolutely certain it's not comparing your numbers with pre-squish numbers?

I don't think so, my friends' parse what they usually get which is blue/purple for GNB/SAM/MNK. I seem to be the only one in my group being grey. Though I am the only WAR so I don't have anyone to compare to if it is doing the pre squish number like you mentioned.

The best place for advice on this is actually the Balance discord server.

Chances are you are throwing away your burst by using it off raidbuff windows, or consistently resource wasting such as overcapping Beast Guage or losing a DCRIT (Berserk, Inner Release) to a bad ability.

Warrior is a bit complicated because once you get the Chaos abilities. Your flow changes a bit. Since Nchaos abilities are Dcrits already, you want to try to time them away from Inner Release which is going to mean much better beast gauge management on your part. To hit purples you're going to have to coordinate with your group to fit 5 Fell cleaves or 3 Cleaves and 2 Inners during raidbuffs. That actually might mean you should HOLD your cooldowns for a little bit instead of blowing them right as they come up. Fight knowledge will come into play here as well. Nothing sucks more than using Inner Release or Delirium as DRK only for the boss to leave and do some mechanic, and all raidbosses have burst windows, usually one at the start (Referred to as the Opener) one just after a major phase change (EG: Shiva EX has a very obvious burst window right after Diamond Dust) and sometimes at the very end during an HP triggered enrage. (A8S or Odin being the obvious examples)

I mostly know DRK, but it's got a banger opener at 90 right now, and is able to beat most melee jobs in the first 10-20 seconds. But for that to happen, in that 10 seconds, You've got to get Darkside up, start your combo to get to 50Blackblood, weave a Shadowbringer and another Edge in there. Get your living shadow up, and find time to carve and spit in there too and fire off your second shadowbringer, all before your raidbuffs wear.

I don't overcap my beast gauge or miss any of the Fell cleaves, but reading this I think I'm not timing it with the raid buffs since I'm popping them as soon as they're off cooldown so that's probably my main problem I need to sort out. In regards to the mechanics I did pop inner release before the Astral Eclipse and miss out on two Fell Cleaves but that was my first run and haven't done it since. While coordinating my burst in a static should be fine, do you have any suggestions on timing with groups from DF/PF?

Post timeline cast of your logs so we can see what you're doing.

Not really, you might just be at the mercy of the other players in that regard. Normally raidbuffs are going to come every 60 or 120 seconds though (Hence why the new update kind of reoriented a lot of the CD around 60/120) so in an ideal scenario things should just align naturally.

The only real help I can give you in this regard is to change your UI so that your raidbuffs (Enhancements) show up in a very obvious place you will immediately see, it might help to even rescale them to 150% or even 200% of their default icon size so you really know when they're up. There's of course third party tools that will simply bark at you when you have a tagged buff, but I having a robot tell you what to do doesn't make you a good player, it makes you a cripple dependent on your crutch.

Alright adjusting the UI to see the buffs sounds good so I'll give that go since I'm not keen on the robot thing.

Knowing the other jobs a bit can help too, for example, if you have a Dragoon and Bard in Your party, at level 80+, you'll know you should be on the lookout for massive buffs from Battle Litany (DRG) and whatever the bard buff was, I forgot. But those two buffs alone are a combined +25% Crit/Dhit I think for 15 seconds. Throw up a tincture of strength in that window as well, and it's like you're 100 Ilvls higher for a quarter of a minute.

Some jobs raidbuffs come in the form of enfeebling action to the enemy as well, so you have to watch for that. EG: Vuln up, Slashing resist down, that kind of stuff. I think Samurai and Ninja have those.
