PC instability discussion

I know this sort of thing has been discussed endlessly before, but I have just now taken a lot of pics and vids of textures that shimmer, terrain that is unstable and deforms at my every step, sometimes shadows that suddenly stop on water in a straight line or ground textures that don't blend into each other correctly and break immersion. Is this happening on the PS4 version, too? I wish it weren't distracting, but it is and I feel like it's because of the quality of the initial port by Virtuos. Could we get any further patches to help fix that aspect? Maybe from Nixxes? Hope Forbiddden West launches on PC just like God of War did or even Days Gone (which also needs one last patch to fix the bike stutter bug).

Saying that I did get texture shimmering in the meridian city on the rock architecture ceiling in one place that I think only appeared at night.

Setting reflections to high instead of medium fixed this shimmering.

Did they not fix this in the latest patch? I'm going to have to go back to meridian city and turn my reflections back to medium to see if this texture shimmering is still there.

Edit: With my current settings with settings mostly on high and reflections on high I don't get any texture shimmering at all. The graphics and textures look very good throughout most the game.

Ryzen 1600x 3.9 GHz
GTX 1070
16 GB DDR4 3400 MHz

Maybe DLSS is buggy in this game. Can I please see some pics or videos of your shimmering textures.

I don't think that's it since DLSS may cause shimmering, but not outright flickering of textures. And idk how to send media over through here

You can upload a video to YouTube and post the link here or just upload some pics to a free image hosting site.

I just have a bunch of random pics and vids I took, never recorded any play session

Try disabling DLSS and see if this fixes your texture shimmering. It would be nice if you could upload some pics because I'm curious what your seeing.

If you are seeing lots of weird colours then I would say that is down to your vram overheating.

No, just usual texture flickering, like with the wallpaintings of the Banuk

That quest looks cool but I haven't yet started Frozen Wilds but will be starting soon as I am level 33.

I meant the ones that were already painted on rock faces

I'm not experiencing any texture shimmering your talking about, the graphics and textures look really good on my GTX 1070.

i5- 43690k with a 1070 so ddr 3 ram and a sata ssd. i noticed in certain areas i will get black instead of textures but i notice this only when cpu is capped and it can't do what it needs due to being at 100% it's almost always during a loading moment like going down a elevator it will go black sky then back to normal. i will be upgrading by tomorow to a r7 5800x and ddr4 ill report back if it's still happening.

Yea, that sounds like a CPU bottleneck so your 5800x should fix it.

I don't have any of those issues and I've got a Ryzen 1600x.

HZD on my PC is flawless but HFW on the PS5....holy bugs, Batman! Animals/enemies appearing under the ground, Aloy getting stuck under the ground when surfacing from water next to rock cliffs, sections of Aloy's armor disappearing and flickering on shoulders during cut scenes. Yea, if you think HZD is bugged on the PC (flawless for me), HFW is dramatically worse on the PS5. It's like everyone always says that because the console is one set of hardware to develop on that it's way less buggy than PC but my experience is the exact opposite lol.

Yea well new game releases always seem to have a lot of bugs until they fix them with patches on both consoles and PC's.
