Horizon live service game?

Now I just came across this on my twitter feed, I will provide the link for you to read.

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/playstation-studios-boss-insists-upcoming-live-service-games-will-target-diverse-genres-and-scales/

But what concerns me is turning Horizon 3, not sure what they will call it. But if they did turn the game into a live service game( meaning always online connection) I will not get it. I want Guerrilla Games and Sony to leave battlepasses or ingame stores out of it. Don't want to see it. I don't mind if they sell dlc or cosmetics but I don't want to see a online store in the menu.

Now take the news with a grain of salt, nothing has been set in stone but I would think with how people reacted to the new Rocksteady's new game Suicide Squad with the battlepass in the menu. It would be something to worry about. Injecting this stuff into good single player games that don't need online stuff.

I didn't even get Outriders because it was a force always online for a single player with the option to play co op. I don't find the excuse of they can update the game quicker excuse to be valid. I mean they can update the game as quickly with a patch that people can download at their leisure.

What are your thoughts, would a live service model on Horizon 3 entice you to get it? I have both games on Playstation and I also have Horizon Zero Dawn on Epic since it was an exclusive at the time.

Fear mongering much? Not once has the article nor the Sony boss mentioned the Horizon series. Even if it may be a plan already in motion in the backroom, always vote with your wallet when the time comes.

By the way, most of the community negativity on the Suicide Squad gameplay trailer is due to how WB Games and Rocksterady unintentionally showcased the ridiculously over-the-top, uninspired and generic combat mechanics for all the characters that plays like Fortnite than anything else DC fans are expecting. As opposed to each SS anti-hero in the DC universe for having very strong and unique personality and combat preference, they all play exactly the same now in this upcoming dumpster fire. With or without the GaaS model, Suicide Squad will fail short of a complete gameplay overhaul but we know it's already too late for that.

Perhaps it's in fact WB Games' goal to target the 10-year-old gaming market, though I don't see losing every other potential customer being a sound strategy. I doubt the full year delay will help much at the end.

Any single player game that requires a permanent online connection = my money stays in my wallet as I still want the ability to play my single player games in the event of any internet connection issues between me and the servers.

It's why I didn't buy a PS4. Was looking forward to Gran Turismo until I read about the always online aspect. After that I kinda lost interest in the console altogether. Now have a PS5 and catching up on some PS4 gen games I couldn't get on PC
