my game opens but when i close it i cant open it again. i have gone through the whole process of crash logs, unistall reinstall, removing mods and it still does it. i dont know what else i can do..

Can you post the crash log and what mods you have?

but its not crashing, im just exiting the game as normal, then come back to play it later and it wont start. but if i restart my computer it works fine...

ive switched off all mods to see if that makes a difference, but there's no change.

Sounds like the process is still running in the background, even after you've closed it. Are you able to open task manager next time you close the game and see if the PD2.exe is still running? If it is, you should be able to End Process it and be able to launch the game again.

no pd2 isn't still open ive tried restarting steam after closing it and it still wont open

Does attempting to run the exe file from the game's file directory do anything? You can find the exe file here usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PAYDAY 2

no ive tried multiple time with different settings changed and still nothing, but when i opened payday 2 in vr it would open with a black screen then it would crash.

also when ever i try to join a heist i end up on the loading screen "forever", when i host a game and i do a heist it loads but it takes slightly longer then normally.

Do you have the crash log for that? Might help shed some light on what's happening.

Yeah, looks like an expected error when you don't have a VR setup; but was worth checking.

Not sure what else to recommend; I guess this doesn't happen for other games? It's doubly-odd that restarting Steam itself doesn't fix the issue. All I can think of is there's some wayward process happening somewhere that's still running and is preventing another instance of Payday 2 opening, which is only killed when your computer restarts.
