Game stutters when not in a x1080 resolution - unfixed after a year

So, this problem has existed since last year, and remains unfixed today despite a patch last month.

It doesn't matter if it's in DX11, 12, or in Vulkan via DXVK. It will always stutter when hitting an enemy with a default attack, as well as during those card-like dialogue cutscenes, which is even more noticeable.

While I don't have a 4K monitor to test with, I have confirmed that the issue does not happen in 4K. Whether or not that's due to being in a x2160 resolution is something I have not been able to test.

The only solution I've confirmed working after 10 hours of testing is setting the game to a resolution that ends in x1080, or setting r.ScreenPercentage to a value that gets you to 4K equivalent if you do not own a 4K monitor.

I don't suppose anyone has a contact at NBGI to fast track this issue into getting fixed?


Edit: Here's an extended test playing through the tutorial in "4K" quality (not res) to better gauge the stuttering since the original video is low bitrate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZdzry9gE80 RTSS overlay is turned on at 4:25 for a few minutes of testing, and the card dialogue is at 8:47.

Idk but usually if you have issue at least in dark souls we contact bamco (since they're the publisher) and they forward it to whoever make the game. Sometimes it works, sometimes don't.

I've had this issue too, and refunded the game because of it a year or so ago. I got it again on sale, and the issue is still there, in fullscreen mode at least. I tried running it in 4k res with borderless fullscreen, and the issue appears to be gone now. Give it a shot.

Edit: I will add, make sure not to run it in D3D12 mode (as in, don't add the -d3d12 launch parameter). DX12 seems to stutter no matter what.

I want to mention I submitted an issue to the publisher shortly after this post, but it seems like there's been no resolution to the issue thus far.

Yet another publisher ignoring a very clear technical flaw from an educated consumer.

1 year later, this stuttering is still an issue.

Photo Mode text in cutscenes is still there with no option to disable it.

And now that I have a much more powerful system, I discover the game's performance is abysmal in DX11. DX12 (forced via command line) or Vulkan (via DXVK) basically triple performance.

Sad when companies don't care about their products.
