I used to playing PvP in wow classic/tbc/wotlk and a bit of retail. Does this game have fun PvP and also is this game too weebish // too anime like. I like some anime but i also don't like some aspect of anime like big giant boobs and so on.

Has fewer people than in other games? Yes
Does that mean it's dead? No.
The community is very active and that is what keeps it alive. You can jump on the discord, ask for a group to go do some pvp and you will find a ton of people ready to go with you.
There's a difference between low population and dead.
And it never took me more than 30 mins to enter ranked, tho it might be because i don't play at vampire hours.

It's actually not bad at all. It's gotten a lot better over the years.

The problem is the game is trying too hard to get people to play PvP, and as a result they've incentivized people to run it TOO much. Now you have matches filled with players who aren't even trying, but are just there for their Frontline Roulette EXP and a handful of Wolf Marks and basically just sit on their thumbs. If you are on a team with a majority of people who are just there for the roulette you are going to have a bad time.

Uhhh....I mean its not horrible, there's a very small dedicated group that plays the arena mode, but in general you're looking at 30-60 minute queue's for it.

Frontlines only pops a lot because its in the daily roulette and gives a ton of exp. Personally I hate frontlines as I can't stand large scale zerg fests.

There's a new pvp mode coming in 6.1 and sadly the arena mode is going away. Not really sure what they are doing with frontlines, but the new pvp mode apparently wont have roles and its some kind of overwatch style map objectives where you push a cart. They haven't really shown it, just talked about it a bit.

Its decent. I have fun sometimes playing Frontlines and stuff

Not as good as Elder Scrolls Online or Guild Wars 2

Ok the people saying "it's not bad" are probably saying it in the sense of "as far as chores go, it's not as bad as it could be"

That doesn't necessarily mean it's good either. I'm not saying this to be a prick, but if your requirement for an MMO is good PvP this might not be what you want. Yeah. It's functional. It works (although most modes are completely dead). But it's not likely to scratch that itch if you have it.

Set your expectations low. If you try it and like it, great.

Depends on what you mean by to weebish/anime.
Is it like Nekopara or any game of the Tales series? No.
Is it made in japan and therefore stigmatized as weeb game for little to no reason? Yes.

There is some anime tropes while going through the MSQ but it's tolerable. FF14 has some of the better looking armors on a female character I've seen in an Asian MMO as a lot of the actual armor sets don't have that boob armor/bikini armor look. However, that doesn't stop people running dungeons in their bikini glams though but it's whatever.

If you really only like PVP and don't really care about other aspects of the game then I'd suggest trying out New World. NW has *a lot* of issues regarding... everything but PVP has been pretty fun. If you still want to try out FF14 then I'd wait until trails accounts are reenabled again.

Not good at all, lol. If you are goign to play FF for the pvp. I would not play.

You have a separate set of stats and actions in PvP. Your level and gear have no bearing in PvP. Everyone is on the same playing field.

The only mode that is active on a daily basis is Frontline (24v24v24).

The soon-to-be-removed arena mode, The Feast (4v4), was only active when a new season began and few weeks after. The mode would be dead if you tried to play, lets say 4 weeks before a major or minor patch, at the point when the seasons end and begins.

Rival Wings (24v24) is only active during weekends when the Revival PvP discord organize events for it. It may be active during the Moogle Treasure events that occur 4 weeks before major patches but it varies from Data Center to Data Center. May be alive on one DC, while completely dead on another.

The way classes/jobs work currently in PvP will be completely revamped with 6.1 when the new Payload-like mode will be introduced. If you like how PvP plays at the moment, don't get used to it since it will all change in a few months.
