Freelancer, Colorado, water tower

1000 hours in the trilogy and I still genuinely do not know the right way to get down from here, let alone if I decide to snipe. I can't take out the guards on the roof with the Silverballer because some NPC somewhere always sees and sets the whole map on high alert, not to mention if there's a third because it's alerted territory.

What do you guys do to either evade or take them out?

evade, slide down ladder and run down stairs, turn hard right, there may be a box there where you can hide, if you cant get in box, climb on hay and jump through window into a bathroom. Plz let me know if it works for you.

They are easy to evade. One sits down and the other walks to the edge and looks away, there's very easy openings to not touch either one. Or just shoot them and not care, just don't do it while they are at the edge of the roof.

I've never had a problem getting down from there.

NPCs are blind for a few seconds after the map loads. I skip the intro and race down before they know I'm there.

It is possible to slide down there, once the left guy sits and right guy goes to stand further away in the corner looking diagonally away. Then you just hide behind the box until you are ready to take them down.

You could use the sieker 1 if you don't want to risk...

use the dart gun to poison two with emetic poison, and the last one can be easy to deal with

When the guy in the chair sits down you can easily knock them out and drag them to the box.

Every single time I put one of them in the box someone in the field or below sees me through the floor, I've given up trying that.

I would prefer not to rely on the dart guns because they feel like a crutch, but I might try dashing down straightaway like one of you mentioned.

Of course, I'd like to be able to properly snipe as designed from atop the tower, but I don't feel like having them sit and camp below the ladder if I don't get away quick enough.

Weird. Typically this doesn't happen for me.

Sometimes it happens...a bug I think. But fortunately it doesn't happen too often.

Even if you're on Alerted/Hardcore difficulty i.e. there are three guards, there's still an opening when none of them are looking at you. You just have to time it correctly. On Hardcore, they hear footsteps, so you have to make sure you're not running right behind the one near the staircase

Crouch and don't run, they won't hear you.

Whittleton Creek and Colorado are the two easiest, not sure what people are struggling with.
