Freezing when in the menu
Hello,
So I've been having this recurring issue where the game runs fine, I even played for an hour today, but then when I go into the menu, to check inventory and what not it freezes, and I can't access anything.
I had this issue on Windows 10 and now Windows 11 as well.
My computer specs are:
OS: Windows 11 Pro
CPU: Ryzen 8 3800X
GPU: RTX 3080ti
RAM: 32Gb 3600 mhz
It's running on a Gen 4 SSD.
I have tried many of the fixes posted on here and none of them have worked, turned off all overlays, updated drivers, cleared shader cache, nothing seems to work.
I posted a ticket on Guerrilla's Site, but I haven't gotten a response (not that I was expecting one).
I really like this game and would love to be able to beat it, but it's frustrating that I can't play for long periods of time.
It was strange because it worked fine for a few hours last night and then today as well, so I'm not sure what could be causing this issue.

I've never had any issues with any other games, even ones more modern than this. Even Edlen Ring ran fine.

Philosopher replied to Freezing when in the menu April 4, 2022 @ 12:32:46 am PDTBro, it definitely sounds like a hardware issue and it's not the game. I have almost finished the game on my GTX 1070 without any crashes.could be a borderline unstable factory overclock on the gpu or the ram if you're using XMP timings ... games these days are very sensitive to any overclocking.

It could easily be an unstable memory overclock as you've got it set to 3600 MHz. Try disabling your xmp memory profile and see if this fixes your crashing.

Roccondil replied to Freezing when in the menu April 4, 2022 @ 11:29:17 am PDTI've got a GTX1070 (Founders Edition), with a R7 2700x cpu and 32GB Ram (of which I made sure to specifically purchase sticks that were certified to work with AMD CPUs), all on Windows 10, and things are rock solid for me.
Thing is, though, the game is sensitive to a lot of things, particularly modified clocks, but also concurrently running software and utilities, hardware and software settings (like audio bitrates), and many others, so if anything is not the "default" manufacturer's/developer's settings, there is a chance it'll throw a fit. For the most part it works, as seen by the number of players who haven't been frustrated enough to complain on the forums, but there are those "power users" and people who like to tinker with their hardware and software who end up finding that the game doesn't play well with their modifications.

Coldthief replied to Freezing when in the menu April 4, 2022 @ 9:17:47 pm PDTWell. Turning off XMP didn't solve the problems. I haven't played with GPU clock at all, all set to default.
I've closed any background programs that I thought could be messing with it and nothing has helped.
I'm just resigned to not playing it for now, until I do a full wipe and it will be the first thing I install just to see if it was some sort of Windows Corruption.
I am not going to be doing that now though.
Thanks anyway everyone.

I would be much more inclined to suspect boost clock issues. One trick people suggest with nVidia cards is to enable Debug mode in the nVidia control panel, which turns off boost clocks beyond the nominal core and RAM speeds quoted for the GPU.
Also, did you try the vsync toggle I told you to test?

Nvidia GPU's at default will automatically overclock themselves with GPU boost 3.0 so I recommend you set your clock speed to 1800 MHz with MSI afterburner otherwise your clock can easily go over 1900 MHz or in my case 2100 MHz which is unstable and causes crashes.

Vsync did not solve any problems. I may try setting the gpu to Nvidia stock levels.

My headset does not allow setting it over 16bit 48k.
I will try the boost clock thing later.

Philosopher replied to Freezing when in the menu April 5, 2022 @ 12:40:01 pm PDTTo change your max clock speed in MSI afterburner click on the line graph icon next to core clock which will open Voltage/Frequency Curve editor. You just need to lower your max clock speed down to 1809 MHz.Also wrong sound settings in this game will cause crashing. Right click đ then click sounds. At the bottom where you see the voltage find the Dot that is on 950mv and change this clock speed to 1809 MHz then click tab for each dot to the right of 950mv and change them to 1809 mv. In games you will notice your clock speed goes up to 1799 so slightly less than 1809 MHz which in my opinion is the perfect clock speed.
