Mass Effect 4

We know so little, we don’t even know if the next game will even be called Mass Effect 4, for all we know it could be Andromeda 2😱

And it will remain so possibly for years more!
We don't know much about Dragon Age 4 aka Dreadwolf and that game is in development for years and it's supposedly coming out this year, but realistically it will not!

I love the Mass Effect trilogy and Origins - I guess Inquisition was okay - but I have to admit that I am not excited over the new ME or Dragon Age games at all. I am certain that magic is gone forever. That being the case, it's hard to really put in any effort into thinking what it's going be like, I mostly think about just waiting for the reviews and hoping we are pleasantly surprised.

Hasn’t the team at Bioware responsible for the Mass Effect trilogy and Dragon Age Origins basically moves on?

I read this article on IGN:

https://www.ign.com/articles/mass-effect-new-sequel-next-chapter-bioware-returning-developers

but I suspect it's hype for the most part. Remember how Back4Blood was somehow drawing on the success of Left4Dead saying that staff who helped create the L4D game were working on B4B and because of that it was going to be great? Well B4B didn't live up to the hype, but lets home the new DA and ME games will.

But the short answer to your question is yes they did. Sometimes, we get a surprise though, because look at how the Baldur's Gate 3 game is turning out even though Bioware have nothing to do with it.

How would you all feel if Bioware did make Andromeda 2 instead of Mass Effect 4?

The ability of BioWare to keep things on the down low is impressive.

I didn't care for Andromeda, did you?

I bought it on release day and it was a disaster. You would go from one room to another and the same character you were just speaking to in the previous room was there talking to you in the new room you just entered (only with a different skin tone) and their head was twisted backwards etc.

I actually finished that game and I couldn't even tell you one character's name, on and on.

How would I feel? I wouldn't feel anything really because that's what I am expecting at this point, an Andromeda 2 type game, even if the new game has the old characters in it and continues the trilogy's story line.

I really hope they surprise us.

I wouldn't mind that; if they do it right!

I had nothing against Andromeda other than missing Quick-Save feature (that was supposed to be implemented before or with Quarian Ark DLC) and the game itself being unfinished due to incomplete storyline and missing before mentioned DLC that would complete it!

And thus, when EA/BioWare abandoned Andromeda, I never finished it; couldn't make myself finish an unfinished game; but I liked the game itself, graphics, gameplay, story, settings, exploration, combat, etc.

I completed the entire game and the only thing I can remember are the bugs and boredom I felt playing it. I was excited for the premise, but I feel it would be financial suicide to try to sequelize such a poorly created and received product.

But what would Mass Effect 4 be about? Would players assume control of Shepard one more time?

I don't know, but for me it couldn't get much worse than Andromeda (not to offend those who like that game). I would be receptive to continuing with the original characters if they didn't do to Mass Effect what they did in DA 2 and Inquisition, which was to write out some of my favorites and alter those who they did keep to the point I didn't care much for them.

Andromeda was fun enough and a good game, but was an objectively meh Mass Effect entry. I don't expect them to continue that story arc ever.

ME4 teaser already showed Liara, so I'm sure it'll be post Reaper War.

I wonder if it’ll be the start of a new planned trilogy or not? What could be the big bad?
Hard to top the reapers.

What about making a game without the big bad and just focusing on exploration, solving mysteries (like Jardaan, Benefector, Raloi, Beings of Light, Virtual Aliens etc.), lore, diplomacy and making friends (or enemies) with new species that we will meet along the way ;)?

Realistically speaking, I think that this new game will be located in the Milky Way post Reaper War but will include...time travel to somehow connect Milky Way with Andromeda Galaxy, since devs said that some questions from Andromeda will be answered.

Alternative is to skip at least 634 years since ME3 (Initiative journey to Andromeda) and then start building Super Mass Relays in both galaxies, which would make more sense (especially on Andromeda side, since Initiative just got access to Meridian Dyson Sphere and OP Jaardan tech), but that would mean that most fan favourites (like Garrus) would be long dead and I think that Bioware will aim for these sweet sweet nostalgia sales. Unless they calculated that Liara, Wrex (both species can live up to ~1000 years) and (maybe) Jaavik would be enough for nostalgia fsn service.

Of course there is a chance that Bioware wasn't clear/lied and new game will be set directly after Reaper War (without connecting to Andromeda storyline) and will be focused on rebuilding the Galaxy, dealing with new local threats (like Krogan population boom after curing the Genophage) and we will be playing as Shepard again (by making Destroy canon), but that would be 100% fan nostalgia fan service writing and I would find that quite boring.

Let's innovate a bit and write new stories in the fascinating universe of ME :)

So, TLDR: In my opinion, new Mass Effect game will be set in Milky Way, will somehow connect Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy and we will see some cameos from fan favourite characters.

I don't want a continuation of the vanilla trilogy. I think they wrapped it up nicely and it should simply be put to rest.

They should pull their ♥♥♥♥ together and give us a proper update to Mass Effect Andromeda, in the form of Andromeda 2. And simply pull their ♥♥♥♥ together with the plastic characters and simplistic mission design.
For the most part: Andormeda was a good game (story wise) and a nice direction to continue the series without completely breaking all of the original trilogy.

IF they do a Mass Effect Andromeda 2 - I'll buy it.
If they decide instead to do a Mass Effect 4 (vanilla) - I'll never give it a second thought.
