REMOVE DRM/ALWAYS ONLINE

I dont care about achivements, or my friends list, play time or any of that garbage. I just want to be able to play the game without an internet connection. I paid for it. Let me play it.

Pirates are gonna find a way around this crap anyway, and I shouldnt as the consumer have to do file editing just to get the game(s) to run without having the EA app cram its nose up my bum.

I quote in full from the pinned topic by "EA Charlemagne" you find at the top of the forum (it's the third of three pinned threads):

"Please Submit Bug Reports on Answers HQ!

"Hey, everyone, This isn't our official forum, so we don't have customer service here to help you with troubleshooting and bugs. Please use answers.ea.com for that, or click the link below!

It's not a bug though, its clearly intentional because when the game(s) were on origin this wasn't a problem :distruststyle:

That's kinda funny, actually. A quick search of this forum--and no doubt others tied to EA-published games--will reveal constant and endless whining about Origin and its problems.

In fact, when EA App replaced Origin and people started talking up Origin, I had to laugh, since it's a classic instance of "Don't wish too hard for something--you might just get it."

The people have spoken, and EA has given them what they asked for--good and hard. "Meet the new EA app, same as the old EA app..."

Meanwhile, EA has told you in black and white how to communicate with them...and it's not by posting whiny "I hate EA!" threads in a Steam forum. Or even sober, buttoned-down "Please, EA, fix this problem!" threads.

That is all.

Ofcourse it is intentional, how else they can push ads in your face if you use game/launcher in offline mod (or the game WITHOUT launcher). It is not just EA, it is global course, everything from a simple apps, modern OS and now even games are being overbloated with junk. And you have less and less option to control it.

They made offline mod more problematic compared to "Origin" and still require internet connection for every new login because in this case even more people will drop it (elso security reason in case of hijacket accounts, but i doubt that it is was the real reason). So eventually they will remove offline option completely.

More user data collection, more telemetry, more ads, more money. Double Win.

Yeah when i purchased the game, it used to run fine without internet connection using the Origin app, now since EA retired Origin & transferred every1 to this Garbage EA app (Origin was also garbage but at least it ran the game without internet) the game is not playable without internet connection however once you launch the game with internet, you can minimize the game & turn off the internet & the game keeps on working

Never thought I'd miss Origin...
Being able to lose connection after is all well and good, doesn't help me though when I'm traveling

But steam DRM never stops you from playing in offline mode once you have installed the game, you can play the game in offline mode indefinitely if there is no additional DRM implemented by the developers

ok, file a ticket about Game Information / Features ( or Bugs ) and tell them that this is something you want changed.

https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/?product=mass-effect-legendary-edition&platform=pc&category=game-information&issue=features&isContactForm=true

If every single person who complained about this on the steam discussions did this then something "might" actually be done. At least then an EA reps inbox would be filled with feedback that will be read though a proper channel. Instead people will fatalistically say "EA doesn't care and will never read this" as if you have a better chance of ever having your opinion be noticed by complaining on a gaming forum likely managed by one person who doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥.

Honestly...do you really believe that? These games sell copies by the millions. A few hundred complaints in the in-basket aren't going to move the needles.

Of course it's unlikely. My point is thats the proper way to convey discontent with a company that sells to millions, as opposed to using steam discussions. Multi billion dollar companies use a lack of such official requests in volume as a justification for continuing scummy practices since peoples rarely speak with their wallets.

Complaining here does nothing other than form an echo chamber that accomplishes nothing. It's not even like these posts are useful for spreading awareness. If you own the game you already know the DRM sucks.

Totally agree. In fact I've made that same point to innumerable whiners in other threads: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about EA in a Steam forum isn't gonna move the chains.

It's basically the old joke about pissing yourself in a dark wool suit: it gives you a momentary warm feeling, but nobody else notices or cares.

Or you might can do it yourself and it takes twice less time than making such topics.
But in this case ofcourse you need "mod" the files and OP don't wanna to consider this as a solution.Well then,i guess enjoy the modern standards.
