I literally just got my character killed because of the noise. I was prepared for zombies behind the door and everything, but that noise ended up causing me to let go of my keyboard, then accidentally alt tab, and come back to see my character bitten. If it wasn't for me shutting the door while I was freaking out, he might have outright died. I hate that noise, and I knew it would eventually lead to my death, and now I need to get rid of it. Is there any option or mod that can remove it from the game?

Its under Audio>Advanced>Zombie
Its Zombie Surprised Player sound in the list. I have mine on half volume and its much better
