I could pick it up fine. Using the pick up command turned it into what looked like a bit of lumber. When I try to place it, my character walks over to where I want and then...nothing. I can move 1 square furniture fine so far, and I meet all the requirements (have a hammer and carpentry 2+. Just can't put the damn thing down.
Any ideas? Might be a mod issue, but I've got no idea where the conflict would be.

do you have piece 1 and piece 2 of the couch? one time it only gave me one of the pieces so I couldn't put it together and place it.

It shows 2 of 2 pieces in the inventory, so, yes?
I saw that in some other posts, but it seems to be different than my situation.
