andrew.c.f.clarke replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? March 17, 2023 @ 8:34:38 pm PDTIn general, poison sprayer is really strong if you get creeping cough. A few towers at key choke points to slow down hordes of enemies can make a huge difference. Ballista + Poison Sprayer is my only quad trophy thus far.
The buzzsaw is also really good if you get long paths with few splits.
Most of the towers are viable if you get the right path. Go with the ones you are good at.
You can find good videos on YouTube(some achievements for quads are named for channels) . Make sure you pay attention to the date, if you see a single Tesla defending a lane it's pre nerf :)

D00mM4r1n3 replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? March 23, 2023 @ 6:06:12 pm PDTIf you can get 10-20 Radar towers built you can basically get to round 50 on any map. (with other towers of course) I leave most of them set to Progress and the divide the rest between Most Health/Armor/Shield. So far, they have been the most reliable tower for killing anything and have saved my bacon many times from enemies getting too close to the end where a few ballista's won't do crud. The monument tower seems like it would be good but the mana cost is too high for it to be worthwhile.

Cotas replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? March 24, 2023 @ 7:10:55 pm PDTFrost Towers are probably the best, since they basically get a 90% slow. Other AOE towers work really well in your basic, pre lvl 45 runs. Frost Towers with Encampments own the plust lvl 50 game. Frost towers give slows and dots, while encampments keep laying mines (multiple on the same square, and they have a limited aoe). Easy mode to level 70

DumbNumpty replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? March 26, 2023 @ 9:05:10 pm PDTI can get to lvl 54 but can not get past, but inclined to say there isn't a 'best tower' as the cost is incremental, but also don't the enemies drop more gold for each unique tower they have been hit by?
Its the cards that set the game as there are far more than the 45 levels so you have to focus to get upgrades.
Probably the best tower is the lookout as it applies its bonuses to other towers so all towers become fully upgraded, but is pain to set and control targeting.
Doing balistas only and all the combo's, don't think I have noticed that much difference, but guess it was always balista as main.
Also its the path and early multiple splits are just a restart for me, occasionally you do get a single path, but if you can get a loop where you are firing into another path for free, it doesn't matter what tower as you will do it in a breeze.
That is my only gripe with the game as getting the right path can be a pain and doesn't matter what tower or strat as really its just path Rng.

Daddy Firestorm replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? March 28, 2023 @ 5:51:16 am PDTI posted something like this before, a few updates ago... so it needs an update. And I'll make it a tier list.
My personal tier list;
- st tier:
- Ballistas. I know it's weird to have the most basic tower here, but not uncommon in tower defense, since the most basic tower should give you all you need. And that includes rogue tower. Ballistas may be single target hitters, but their potential is quite high. They have the best possible upgrades; crazy range (although it used to be crazier before the nerf), frost damage, and high damage for mana tradeoff upgrade. And let's not forget; they are the cheapest towers.
- Vampire lairs. Although arguably poor against high health enemies like bosses because of the low dps due to slow attack rate, these towers are amazing. They attack all enemies within a gigantic area, easily making them the best AOE tower. And with enemies pouring into the map like water on a sinking ship, you're going to need them.
- Frost towers. Only downsides are mana cost and low damage. The mana cost never goes up, so it's no longer a problem late game. On the plus side... they are absolutely the best at stopping enemies dead along a path, and they can increase the damage other towers do to enemies. Just make sure to get the range upgrade soon; they increase attack rate as well.

- nd tier:
- Mortars. Their downside is they're slow, but the big upside is they do a lot of area of effect damage. Make sure they attack enemies that are likely going to be surrounded by other enemies (I personally set them to attack slow or high health/armor/shield enemies). Their range and area of effect damage is greatly upgradable too.
- Shredders. Unfortunately, they don't have special upgrades to make them more interesting. But they make up for that by actually attacking entire pathways. They're great damage for your money. The only reason they are not in 1st tier is because multiple paths greatly reduce their effectiveness. A minor downside is that the game quickly sounds like going to the dentist for a cavity.
- Cannons. Slightly slow and expensive, they come otherwise with very little downsides. Their big (and upgradable) range and the ability to attack anything else in the path of their shot allows them to potentially spam the entire map with damage-... erm, cannonballs. Especially since you can have the cannonballs split up. I guess this should be the players equivalent to the missle spam?
- Mortars. Their downside is they're slow, but the big upside is they do a lot of area of effect damage. Make sure they attack enemies that are likely going to be surrounded by other enemies (I personally set them to attack slow or high health/armor/shield enemies). Their range and area of effect damage is greatly upgradable too.
- rd tier:
- Encampments. They can't really aim for targets, and just "attack" randomly, but they do good damage and have that sweet AOE. Plus, they lay their mines constantly, even when no enemies are around... which means that the longer it takes for enemies to get to them, the more damage they will do all at once. They are also currently the only way to reduce haste.
- Radars. Their attack rate is rather low, since they depend on a plane that has to circle around constantly for their targets. The upsides however; their range is so big that after upgrading it it's nearly impossible to get a map they can't potentially reach all corners for. Plus, they do a lot of damage. Just make sure to set priority for bigger targets, and they are no longer a problem.
- Watchtowers. I like the idea of a support tower... but to be honest, these are kind of underwhelming in their effect. Make sure to set other towers to hit marked targets or they're useless. They only grant flat damage and crit rate to a single target within their range, they do little else. It's still good damage, but you kind of expect better for their price.

- th tier:
- Tesla Coils. They do very little damage and cost mana, but they attack all enemies in their range at once. They work nice against big swarms of enemies, but make barely an impact on anything with a lot of health or defences.
- Particle cannons. Much like the radars, but will cost a lot of mana. They don't have the downside of being dependable on a plane, but will still be very slow at attacking. Their range and damage output make them nice to work with, however.
- Obelisks. I wanted to place them higher, I really do. What's not to like about a tower that attacks very fast with high damage on any target that approaches it... but ever since the March of Monsters patch they got nerfed a bit, and they were already dealing with a big problem; huge mana cost and high expenses. If you're using them, they are quite costly for how much terrain they cover and will need you to constantly keep tabs on your mana output. At the start of the game, the mana cost will probably be so high you run dry in mere seconds when the first enemies approach.
- Monuments. Although not terrible towers, compared to the Vampire lairs and the Cannons that came in the same update, this tower becomes very underwhelming and forgettable. They sort of add another "condition" to the game, which is their attack. The damage can be upgraded depending of other conditions, but since these don't inflict other conditions, this just makes them dependable on other towers.
- Tesla Coils. They do very little damage and cost mana, but they attack all enemies in their range at once. They work nice against big swarms of enemies, but make barely an impact on anything with a lot of health or defences.
- th tier:
- Poison towers. They have a very small range, use mana for their attacks, barely attack multiple enemies at once (unless they're standing in the exact same spot), and also do very little damage. They can barely kill a low health enemy before it runs past, as they're mainly focused on applying conditions (much like the shredder but with smaller range, mana cost, and not being able to attack the entire pathway). The only edge the Poison tower arguably has is that it can apply frost damage when you have creeping cough... but so can almost any other tower, since almost all towers can apply poison.
- Flamethrowers. These are basically the same tower as the poison tower, but for burn rather than poison. Normally, I'd be a big fan of a Flamethrower especially when it uses my namesake on an upgrade card... but both of these two towers are both barely worth mentioning, which is why they have their own tier at the very bottom. I know they got a slight upgrade since the last update, but it still hasn't fixed them.

DumbNumpty replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? April 4, 2023 @ 9:00:25 pm PDTVamp tower as totally counter initiative as upgrade and lvl up to the max with the range bonus and that single central tower will absolutely kick ass.
Totally path dependent as you need a big square area for your vamp with a no split path to defend for the rest.
No other tower can singulary cover and throw out dmg like that, but ballistas are next as they are general purpose covering shield, armour and health, giving enough bleed, poison, flame to halt regen and all other towers you need to think as combo's and not a 'best tower'.
Any tower can do lvl 45 with relative ease and that is likely the only downside to the game as really its the path that makes far more difference.
We are merely setting optimum towers in a best path, where elevation advantage and shortage of x3 and lesser x2 tiles makes any basic strat work with the right path and some strats aka vamp need very specific paths that can get you past lvl 55.

you can also combine it with frost keeps and radar towers for single target

taiiat replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? April 10, 2023 @ 6:36:55 am PDTyeah i'd say if you had to pick one thing that by itself swings things the most - Vampire Lair.
a gigantic AoE helps clean up Enemies a lot. it's something that no other Tower can do.
they aren't going to Kill Bosses on their own, but they get Damage on a lot of Enemies and a group of them can help keeping DoT's stacked up as well. helping clean up trash leaves more of your other Towers free to shoot at the Bosses too, anyways.
it just has the biggest impact to your Damage output of any Tower.
it's basically like a Particle Cannon but with a giant AoE instead of sniping.

DumbNumpty replied to Whats the best tower in rogue tower? April 13, 2023 @ 6:13:45 pm PDTI am guessing you have never upgraded a vamp tower as its not a lane its a big area of the map it will take out near all apart from big bosses. i find the radar is by far the best boss killer, the vampire tower or tesla can easily single tower a lane's smaller enemies.
Vamp tower is prob the only tower you make one of and try to get it fully upgraded and lvled up to a super tower (lvl 50) with its x3 range bonuses
