Attention mod users! Version 0.7 broke mods!

Introduction

The recent live and development branches, game versions 0.7.00x, broke pretty much every mod out there. Hard.

I can't speak for other modders, but for my mods, you'll have to update them manually from my project website. There won't be any updates on NexusMods until 0.7.00x becomes the public release version.

I suggest downloading the akarnokd-all.zip and cherry-picking the mods to overwrite.

Be warned that it takes time to verify all ~50 mods still work as intended. Please be patient about it and if you happen to run into anomalies, find me on Discord or report it on the project issue list.

Additional setup

Also you'll have to do some additional setup beyond updating my mods. The game's Unity version changed (to 2020.3.42) which has a bug/feature that disables mods after launch. Since I don't experience such problems with other games running more newer Unity version (such as 2021.3.14), it appears to be more of a bug as I didn't find any means the devs would deliberately try to prevent modding.

To workaround it, please find the BepInEx\config\BepInEx.cfg file and locate the HideManagerGameObject entry, then set it to true

## If enabled, hides BepInEx Manager GameObject from Unity. ## This can fix loading issues in some games that attempt to prevent BepInEx from being loaded. ## Use this only if you know what this option means, as it can affect functionality of some older plugins. ## # Setting type: Boolean # Default value: false HideManagerGameObject = true

Doesn't work

It after all this, the mods still don't work at all, please find the log file in

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter\Player.log

And post it on the Discord #modding channel, or DM it to me directly: akarnokd#5963.

wondering is it because mine is modded im not seeing the version 7 or Ive restarted steam several times jw do i need to wait for sumtin else

Are you running the dev branch? If not, you need to change first to Beta.

Yes, i love your Mods, without this Mods Plant Crafter is complete without Quality of Live Features, special Inventory Stacking and Auto Consume is essential, Miju Games schould bring a Major Update to Public Release after 4 Months of nothing, it´s Time.

By chance I put in only the stacking items mod in the folder today when I switched to the dev branch. I didn't do the additional editing of the file as you described.
When is started the game I only had one inventory field with a weird white-greyish smaller field inside.
Since I only had started the dev branch because I wanted to check something and not really play, I left it, but then picked up some item nevertheless - and suddenly my inventory was normal again, including the stacked function.

Tl:dr - seems like it might also work without your workaround 😊

I really wish you guys would add a mods section on steam like some other games have in workshop. That would be awesome. I really like this game & love the fast that so much new content is being added often. I played yesterday & wondered what was going on with my modded save as the stacking mod didn't work anymore when I played it in Dev version & all my items where gone because of the stacks mod I had used on it. I just like to have a lot of space to store & carry things in game, the other mods are not as needed or wanted to me as that one.

This right here tells me it's not really the mods that are broken maybe?
I use Lathrey's Disable Build Constraints and it worked after following the above instruction. The only thing that doesn't work is the notice the mod writes to the screen when the modded feature is "turned on". I verified this (besides the obvious visual clue of the item turning green in spite of being built halfway into a rock) by reading the LogOutput.log file after the fact.

No the mods don't work on Wemod either , I'm not playing this game until I have my mods back. Devs you need to address this.

Why should they? Mods are 3rd party and NOTHING to do with the game

Only ones who're unable to process the fact that this is an Early Access game and the 2-person dev team has more important things to do...like finish the actual game. Until they do, and there's finally a stable set of data structures to run it, modding (and running mods) is a risky and frustrating thing.

And actually, even with established games the structures sometimes change in ways that break mods (looking at how many mods have been pulverized over the years in Stellaris, for example). That's not the devs' responsibility either...THEIR job is to create the best base game they can. You want to tinker around under the hood, you do so at your own risk. If you just want to use the results of someone else's tinkering, you'll have to wait until they finish retinkering instead of making veiled and entitled-sounding statements at the devs.

Had to set that option already for one of the mods, so hilariously I didn't even notice the update.
