Is it possible to play as a man? i cant get immersed otherwise.

This game consists of 5 episodes, with each having their own protagonist. Some are male, some are female. If this is intolerable for you, then you should probably play other games or seek another hobby altogether. There are tons of great games which dictate the protagonist. Always have been, always will be. If you limit yourself to only playing females, or vice versa, only playing males, you miss a lot of great games. If you can't get over that, move along, but please stop whining in game's forums about it.
I don't get this trend in recent years where no one can't accept well written preset characters and everyone instead wants soulless blank slate customizable characters in every game like it's TES.

Has nothing to do with empathy, it has to do with immersion.

There's literally a gender swap mod, just flip it on/off as you get to different characters
