multiplayer balance is awful

takedowns are implemented HORRIBLY in multiplayer. I spend 15+ minutes searching for a match, only to have the colt be a panzy ass hiding in the far corners of the map for another 10 minutes. then, when i finally find him, he jumps around like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spider monkey and does a "stealth-takedown" from in front of me, killing me instantly. what the ♥♥♥♥ is the point?

just had another where out of nowhere my game lowered my movespeed to that of a geriatric tortoise, and prevented me from firing my weapon or jumping, the second that colt came into my line of sight, getting me killed.

it is balanced via soul level and weapon level. in Dark Souls 3, a soul level 1-9 character, even with a max level weapon, will only be invaded by a player one level higher, with that increasing by one every 10 levels. here, you can be invaded at any time, by a max rank Juliana. and in the inverse case, a low rank Juliana can invade a kitted out Colt.
that is why pvp builds have a set min-max soul level, for the pvp bracket. specifically, soul levels based between 130-140 with a max level weapon are the ideal for the fight club in Anor Londo.

also, if they didn't want their progress screwed up, they could have turned off online invasions. that's why the option is there. they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up *my* progression by not using the feature for the exact thing they're trying to do.

You're just completely wrong, bringing Dark Souls into it. If they didn't care about PvP balance, then why did they try so hard to perfect the 2-hit limit before letting you roll away from someone's combo, or add exception caveats to interactions regarding damage absorption like the Ring of Steel Protection being worse against player enemies vs NPCs?
Invaders have the odds against them in most situations, but that's where they designed the balance to lie. You can still use creative tricks, or the enemies in the world, or other invader phantoms. And of course, you can also happen to be better than multiple people even in an uneven fight. You can't win them all but it's certainly possible to clap multiple people's butts in PvP.

As for Deathloop, of course the balance is ♥♥♥♥♥. Gas weapons and melee takedowns can screw Juliannas so hard, it's not even funny. We're at the start of the game's life (hopefully not the end either), so I'd still hold out hope for any sort of balance passes in the future, as well as additional content throwing in more to the mix. Not a huge hope but I'll wait.

In DS all your characters are usable for both, offline and online playthroughs, so you can keep your level growth safe offline, with julianna you can't do ♥♥♥♥ about it.
Level growth speed with julianna is ridiculously ♥♥♥♥♥♥, regarding of colt's one

There's a very fine line between a challenge and then just a straight-up nightmare-scenario. After reading OP's comments, I can infer that PvP in this game is the latter

pvp is fine and maps are huge, people complaining about Colt meleeing them have no understanding that they control the most important points of the map that Colt needs to be at namely his exits and objectives, I've had whole Julianna invasions where the Colt didn't even see me because I didn't chase him around the map to take a knife in the neck, Colt is constantly fighting on your terms and the smartest Colt's will use that expectation to outplay you with aether and other knowledge of the map, mans got 3 lives if you have to fight him cqc you do it once and regroup or he'll just knife your one life out of you

Yeah i got invaded for the first time by a dude with some skinned autoshotgun. I have barely 2 hours in game. Safe to say, i got absolutely railed. Like, didn't stand a chance.

Yeah Julianna also instantly gets 3 epic-tier weapons right from the start, and almost immediately gets a legendary, which she can keep between runs. my first time getting invaded was by somebody with a legendary weapon that fires explosive gas rounds.

The point of multiplayer is to add a challenge to the single player experience of the game. Its not meant to be "balanced" in a 1v1. If single player people want to camp because they don't want to ruin their single player game experience, that's on them.
