Why does Electricity feel underwhelming?

I'm still new to the game, but I've never felt the need to get electricity above level 3. Is it worth leveling? What am I missing?

You need level 2 electrician and level 1 mechanics to hotwire vehicles. It also increases your ability to repair generators. The higher electrician skill you have, the more durability you can repair with each component. That is about it though.

Yeah, and at level 3, you can move and install stoves and washing machines and such. But I can't figure out if there is any point in getting higher than that.

Other way around. 2 mechanics and 1 electronics.

At level 5, you can jury-rig stuff like lamps to work off of batteries rather than the power grid. Not particularly useful if you're using a generator, but it's something.

Well, I learned a few things from this thread. Thank you for posting, OP. Never knew you could use batteries to rig up lamps and whatnot.

With high electrical you can also construct lots of nifty gadgets, like noisemakers, remote triggers, proximity fuses, craft makeshift radios, and it's also need for a lot of modded stuff, like solar panels and such.

Electrical is one of the least useful skills, correct. It's not without it's uses, but it's absolutely not mandatory for long term survival and having just 1-3~ into electrical is absolutely fine. I'd say having just 1 is mandatory for hotwiring.

100% agree with this. But ever since I got to level 3, I never felt the need for more. Even with cooking I felt the need to get at least level 7 in for the rotten cooking perk.

I guess there are things you can make like noice makers and such like others mentioned in above, but I still feel it's not as good as the rest of the crafting skills in higher level.

I just call these skills "luxury". When they can improve your life your just make it more fun, but they're definitely not needed for survival :P
