This Week in Heroes Esports – June 9, 2016
After an exciting weekend of competition that saw first-time champions crowned in both Korea and North America, the last of the 12 teams headed to the Summer Championship are locked in. These top teams from around the world will be gathering at DreamHack Summer for three days of Group Stage matches in Stockholm followed by a second Group Stage and Finals in Jönköping. In a shocking turn of events, Tempest were able to completely dominate MVP Black in the Grand Finals of Super League. MVP Black, the Korean front-runners who hadn’t lost a match since October, took a major hit. Able to analyze and outdraft their opponents, Tempest’s victory was well-deserved. Since the event, MVP Black has released several statements about their play and what to expect from them in the near future. Congratulations to Tempest!

Meanwhile in North America, Regional #2 at ESL Burbank brought us a new Champion in Gale Force Esports! The top eight teams from North America Regional #1 returned to fight for the final spot in the Summer Global Championship. Cloud9, runners-up at the first Regional and community favorites, shocked fans by failing to make it through the Group Stages. In the Grand Finals, Naventic faced off against Gale Force Esports and fell under the pressure of the storm. Congratulations to Gale Force Esports!

Pack Your Bags, We’re Heading to Sweden!
All 12 regional representative teams have earned their tickets to DreamHack Summer in Sweden to compete in the Heroes of the Storm Summer Global Championship! In recent months, teams from across the globe have challenged one another to become the best in their respective regions. Now, though, the focus will shift to the global stage and teams will have to show that they can adapt to the different strategies utilized by each region. With a prize pool of $500,000 USD on the line, teams are heading to Sweden hungry for success and ready to fight for the title of Global Champions!
