Overview
Idea for improved loot system
A token system. For every player in a group greater than 3, a token goes to everyone who takes part in killing a name. So 4 real players get 1 token, 5 players each get 2 and 6 real players each get 3 tokens.
Why more tokens per added player? Simply because the chance of named loot diminishes per added player.
The tokens in turn would be used to purchase similar gear on the order of 20 tokens for low tier and 30 per higher tier.
Therefore with a full group, every 10 named kills would guarantee one piece of higher tier loot, and statistically, you should also receive 1 or 2 from the named themselves.
If you'd like to try and keep the system more orderly, require each member to contribute and least marginally to the fight, be it damage, buff, or healing. Of course, don't require the character to be in zone since that would penalize zoning after death.
In my opinion, named have become exceedingly rare and this has forced me and my friends into heroic adventures which have become boring. The above system would allow larger real player groups to be able to explore the rest of the game whilst maintaining a decent amount of loot.
