RS3 Cold Front Quest Guide: Snowball Puzzle Solutions & Walkthrough (2025 Event)

Cold Front is the headline seasonal quest for the RuneScape 2025 Christmas event. While short, the quest features a few tricky segments - specifically inspecting the snowmen and the notorious snowball rolling puzzle.

This guide details exactly how to craft the perfect materials, solve the size puzzle, and defeat the "Snowverload" with words rather than weapons.

Step 1: The Inspection

Head to the Christmas Village and walk west across the bridge to find the Queen of Snow. She is stressed about the upcoming Snow Tournament. Agree to help her organized the event.

Your first task is to inspect the three snowmen she has created (Warrior, Ranger, and Mage):

1. Click on each snowman and select every available dialogue option (Head, Body, Arms, etc.) to identify their flaws.
2. Return to the Queen. She will give you the External Locus of Evaluation.
3. Inspect all three snowmen again with this item in your inventory.
4. Speak to the Queen once more. She will hand you the Chisel of Conditional Worth.

Step 2: Crafting Perfect Materials

To fix the snowmen, you need "Perfect" versions of three materials. You will need to use your Chisel on specific quantities of raw items to create them.

1. Perfect Coal (Buttons)

• Requires: 25 Standard Coal.
• How to get: Use the 25 Coal you brought with you (or mine/buy it nearby).
• Action: Use the Chisel on the stack of coal to create 5 Perfect Coal.

2. Perfect Carrot (Nose)

• Requires: 20 Carrots.
• How to get: Go to Diango's Workshop (south east of the christmas village near the trough by the wall of the workshop). Look for a bucket of carrots near the hungry reindeer and food trough on the Western wall.
• Action: You must click the bucket repeatedly until you have 20 carrots. Use the Chisel on them to create 1 Perfect Carrot.

3. Perfect Branches (Arms)

• Requires: 10 Branches.
• How to get: Chop the nearby Fir Trees. You will receive logs and branches. Keep chopping until you have 10 branches.
• Action: Use the Chisel on the branches to create 2 Perfect Branches.

Once you have all the perfect items, return to the Queen of Snow.

Step 3: The Snowball Puzzle Solutions

This is the part where most players get stuck. The Queen requires three snowballs of specific sizes placed on specific markers. If you make a snowball too big, you cannot shrink it, you must destroy it and start over.

Tip: Interact with a snow pile to start a snowball, then "Push" it to grow it.

The Exact Formulas:

• The Base (Enormous): Push a snowball exactly 10 times. Place it on the marker.
• The Torso (Large): Push a snowball exactly 8 times. Place it on the marker.
• The Head (Average): Push a snowball exactly 5 times. Place it on the marker.

For some reason when i was doing this, i only got the marker on the first snowball and then the other ones did not show a marker, so they just need to go next to the other snow balls. 

Step 4: Defeating the Snowverload

Once the snowman is built, it transforms into the Snowverload. This is not a combat fight; it is a battle of words. The monster will attack the Queen's self-esteem.

Select the following dialogue options to defeat him:

1. "She deserves support. Not judgement."
2. "You taught her to feel ashamed for having needs."
3. "You made her this way."
4. "She doesn't need to earn your approval."
5. (Select any option for the final prompt)

The monster will shrink into "Snow Worries." Speak to the Head Snow Imp, and then the Queen of Snow one final time to finish the quest.

Rewards

• 2,000 Christmas Spirit (Event Currency).
• Snowman Slippers (Cosmetic).
• "[Name] the Snowman" Title.
• 3 XP Lamps: Lamp of Imperfection, Lamp of People Pleasing, and Lamp of Procrastination (1,500 XP each).
• Access to the Snowman Combat Activity (Ranged XP training).
• 2 Treasure Hunter Keys (Non-Ironman only).
